The Greater Manchaster Marathon is the second largest in England. The first was held in 2012. The course is one of the flattest marathons in the world.
The first marathon in the Manchester area was held in 1908. It started and ended at Saracen's Head Pub in Warburton. So it was one round. At that time it was only 32 kilometres long.
Only the following year there was a race over 26 miles and 385 meters. This started in Sandbach and ended in the Fallowfield Stadium in Manchester.
In the course of the following years there were several races, in which, however, different tracks were used again and again. That means different starting points and ends.
If you want to run a marathon, you should start training about 6 months before the start of the marathon. First with smaller distances and then increase the distance.
It is important to always have enough drinks with you when running and to take them with you while running.
